Peter Solomon Limbaugh Corporal in Co. E 20th Alabama Infantry he was a P.O.W. at Port Gibson for two years, after his release he was consolidated with the 30th Alabama Infantry and served as a Private in Co. F. He was later dismissed due to injuries sustained at Port Gibson.

Moss

John G. Moss Private in Co. F, 19th Texas Calvary. He enlisted March 31, 1862, and was Medically Discharged in April 1863, "Suffering from Bright's Kidney Disease".

Newberry in Pickens County, SC on April 5th 1919, and witnessed by W.B. Jones of Company H, 2nd SC Rifles, and John D. Marcus Keith of Company C, 4th SC Calvary. In 1943 the Last reunion of Confederate veterans was held at the home of Matthew Hendricks in Pickens County, SC (he was 101 years old).

Newberry and witnessed by Riley Simmons of 2nd Regiment South Carolina Rifles, Company E, and S.M. Looper of Company F, 2nd Regiment South Carolina Calvary on Apr 1, 1919 in Pickens County.

Served as a Private in Company B, 37th Battalion Virginia Calvary, 1927: Easley or Greenville newspaper clipping quotes Wm Frank Looper's brother John:

Wm Frank Looper was wounded (probably July 31, 1864) at Chambersburg, PA, when the town was burned. He was captured by the Yankees, cared for by a local farmer who later drove him around the US lines and delivered him to the CSA. He was sent to a hospital at Lynchburg, VA, where he died on Oct 30, the day after his wife arrived to see him. She returned the body to SC for burial.

Application for a widows pension was made on April 10th, 1919 by his wife Sarah Edmonson Reid Sutherland "Sallie". James A. Griffin of Company H, 4th Regiment SC Infantry, and Col. Robert Esli Bowen Commander of Company E, 2nd Regiment SC Rifles (aka Moore's Rifles), appeared before Probate Judge J B Newberry in Pickens, SC to verify the information on the application, The application was approved, signed, and sealed on April 15th, 1919 by Judge J B Newberry.

Burrell

 

Butler Burrell (2nd Cousin 5 times removed, son of Mark & Hulda Denton Burrell)

B: Nov 20, 1826

D: Jul 3, 1863 Gettysburg, PA

Served as a Private in Company F, 1st Regiment South Carolina Calvary, Killed at the battle of Gettysburg in an area known as The Valley of Death, which is between Devils Den and Little Round Top. His brother Bright Burrell of Company F found him mortally wounded and drug him behind a large boulder to protect them both from enemy fire, after Butler died Bright had to leave him wrapped in a saddle blanket to catch up with his Calvary unit. Butler was buried there in an unmarked grave.

Was too old for service at the beginning of the Civil War but volunteered as a member of the Georgia State Guards their purpose was to provide home defense. Madison was captured by Union troops near Atlanta in June, 1864 and was imprisoned at Camp Douglas, near Chicago, until the end of the war. At the end of the war he was sent by train to Richmond, VA where he was released, from there he walked home to Milton County, GA
