Nice post and very interesting! Did you see that "Who Do You Think You Are?" show? There was one episode where Spike Lee found that a slave ancestor had worked in a factory producing CSA guns.

Hey Trinity,

You are so right about the fear of discussing this part of our history, there were so many different people who fought for the Confederacy that are completely ignored and this is not right in my opinion, yes slavery was a part of this era of history but as you have pointed out it was not a pro-slavery, con-slavery issue.

Amen my Friend this is what makes us look bad when these stupid people change the outlook on our history with their stupidity.

Good show, I think this is a largely ignored topic because it is seemingly far-fetched in the minds of those who truly believe the Civil War was a pro-slavery, con-slavery issue and no more than that. As a "person of colour" and a Southerner, I have a love hate relationship with that Confederate flag, but any symbol can be negatively viewed with enough fools rallying behind it. Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups. Anyway, Ive strayed from the point: Good read!
